The Movie Orgy w/Joe Dante

July 1, 2017

Roxie Theater

With director Joe Dante in attendance! Finally, THE MOVIE ORGY returns to San Francisco! In the '60s, GREMLINS director Joe Dante created the world's most epic movie mash-up, comprised entirely of clips, trailers, ads, and other celluloid oddities, meaning that we're going to bring you over four and a half hours of cinematic curiosities! "In the late 1960s and early 1970s, Dante and producer Jon Davison traveled across America screening The Movie Orgy at boozy colleges and grindhouse theaters. Today, the film can be regarded as one of the great artifacts of post-war pop culture, a jaw-dropping extravaganza of Saturday matinee B-movie trailers, commercials, Army training and sex hygiene films, newscasts, music clips, and Christian kiddie programs that have been stitched together into a demented but sharply political narrative. The film will surely be a revelation to those only familiar with the montage films of Bruce Conner and Christian Marclay's more recent sensation, The Clock (2010)." - MoMA film calendar THE MOVIE ORGY is free for all members, or free with the purchase of three drink tickets for our regular guests! (Drink tickets are good for sodas, coffee, tea... or for our guests 21+, Olympia beer.) 270m/USA/DVCam
