THE HUNTS: Indie-Folk Wiz Kids in Concert

April 22, 2017
8:00 pm
Firehouse Arts Center

The folk-infused indie-pop music phenomenon now known as The Hunts is headed to the Firehouse Arts Center in Pleasanton for a concert on Saturday, April 22, at 8:00 p.m. The uber-talented recording and performing group of five brothers and two sisters have been the darlings of the folk-pop indie radio scene since they recorded their first album in 2012 in Nashville. All are violin wizzes, with some top-notch mandolin, piano, ukulele, banjo, and drums added in for good measure. Known for their harmony-laced take on alternative-folk music, The Hunts are a Chesapeake, Virginia-based band of siblings who've been making music together their entire lives (well, almost). Readers may remember the family-favorite act, The Hunt Family Fiddlers, a 9-piece ensemble comprised of dad Clint, mom Sandy, plus their seven children. The Hunts is those siblings re-emerged as the acoustic rock band that is still rapidly climbing indie folk charts on iTunes, Spotify and Pandora. Twin sisters Jessi and Jenni and brothers Josh, Jonathan, Jordan, Justin, and Jamison now range in age from 17 to 26. Brand name retailers have taken notice: The Hunts were the 2013 Taco Bell Feed the Beat Artist; their single "Make This Leap" was featured in national Milk-Bone commercials; and Starbucks added their "Life Was Simple" EP to the national in-store overhead playlist. The Hunts note that the commercial exposure has also helped to give them prime placement in major festival line-ups, including: Austin City Limits, Summerfest, Landmark, and Firefly. Regarding their music and style: As they matured a bit, and meshed as a group, The Hunts started experimenting with song-writing, and developed their signature "harmony-driven, breath-taking and sweetly ethereal" sounds. The songs are known for capturing the heartache and wonder of many of their shared life experiences with a wistful elegance.\r\n\r\nPresented by City of Pleasanton Firehouse Arts Center
