The Dogon Lights, Sirens Of Soul & Isaac Chambers Appearing Live at Moes Alley Thursday, June 29th Featuring Members Of DIRTWIRE, HAMSA LILA & FERAL FAUNA 8:30 PM, Doors Open 8:00 PM, $8 advance, $12 day of show, Moe's Alley proudly presents The Dogon Lights (feat. members of Dirtwire & Hamsa Lila) + Sirens Of Soul (featuring Cheraki of Feral Fauna) & Isaac Chambers for a not to be missed dance party. Pronounced "Doe-Gone, The Dogon Lights "Afro-Galactic Hip Hop" from the Bay Area. The Dogon Lights create a shamanic and energetic dance atmosphere that takes the listener straight to the stars. Traditional skin and wood instruments are blended with hip hop beats, African instruments, rapping, electronica and psychedelic groove. The Dogon Lights combine a blend of styles that is fresh and instantly recognizable. A blend of languages ( English, French, Wolof, Bambara etc) and instruments such as the Sintir and Guimbri from Morocco, the Kamale Ngoni, (similar to the Kora) from Mali and Burkina Faso, Calabash and Djembe of West Africa, with Electric Bass, Guitar, Synthesizer and Drums. The word, "Dogon" comes from the Dogon people of Mali who believe they are from "the dog star" or Sirius. The Dogon Lights have opened up for grammy winning artists Tinariwen from Mali as well as Bombino from Niger. Members have Performed with Bassnectar, Beats Antique, Rising Appalachia, The Mickey Hart Band, Hamsa Lila, Dirtwire and many others. Members The band features members of the award winning band Hamsa Lila (Vir McCoy, Evan Fraser, Ian "Inkx" Herman), as well as Evan Fraser of Dirtwire (with David Sartori of Beats Antique) with renowned Guinean djembe player Bongo Sidibe. Ashel Seazuns performes with Bassnectar. Vir McCoy ( Hamsa Lila, Mickey Hart,) plays the camel skinned Sintir (a traditional instrument of the Gnawa of Morocco) and the goat skinned gimbri (traditional Moroccan Berber and arabic instrument), Djeli-ngoni (Malian lute) as well as Electric Bass and Guitar. Evan Fraser (Hamsa Lila, Dirtwire, Stellamara) plays Kamale Ngoni, Kalimba, Illimba, Berimbau, Calabash, Zabumba, Ney, Jaw Harp, Slide Guitar, Synthesizer and just about everything else you could imagine. Bongo Sidibe is a native of Guinea, and a master Djembe drummer. A well known San Francisco teacher and performer Bongo adds his rhythmic fire to the mix. Bongo adds his vocals for traditional and original songs. Gary Norris is a bay area native and ads his funky Hip Hop drumming to the mix. Ashel Seazuns Mc, rapper and vocalist, Ashel has toured with Bassnectar and created amazing music with Earth Amplified. SPECIAL ADDITIONS: Ian "Inkx" Herman (Paul Simon, Sting, Mickey Hart, Hamsa Lila), a native of South Africa, plays traps laying down an irresistibly funky rhythmic bottom like a freight train coming through the jungle... ABOUT SIRENS OF SOUL Sirens of Soul is a women's band born from the musical union of Heather Christie, Elisa Rose, and Alyra Rose. Their sound is rich with harmonies, soulful anthems, acoustic rhythms and uplifting lyrics. The group came together serendipitously during a tour sharing their solo projects and found such resonance that Sirens of Soul formed. Members: Heather Chrisite is a Santa-Cruz native and a founding member of local band, Feral Fauna. She was a top contestant on the American Idol Farewell Season. She collaborates with electronic producers, and will be releasing new music soon! Her style is a fresh fusion of pop & funky soul vibes, enlivening and brightening to the soul. Elisa Rose is a native to Ojai, CA, and tours with her solo project. She has played this year at Envision Festival and Lightning in a Bottle, and will be gracing the stage as well at the Oregon Eclipse. Her style is devotional, uplifting, and all-enclusively heart-melting. Alyra Rose is from Ukiah, CA, and brings a true rocker sensibility to the group. Her song 'The Machine' is released in Scotland and the UK, and she has been building a following overseas with her charismatic stage presence, funky rhythms, and lyrical wisdom. ABOUT ISAAC CHAMBERS Combining perceptive content with all things playful, fruity and phat, Isaac creates music from the heart that is both unique and refreshing. Fusing original chunky beats with soulful vocals and live instrumentation, Isaac's live shows are renowned for their polished production and ability to always get a dance floor positively grooving. Originally from New Zealand currently based in Melbourne, Australia, Isaac has toured extensively and performed at many world class festivals from the South Pacific all the way to North America.
