Swing Dance Party
Did you know that in the 1930s and 40s, the "Wagon Wheel" nightclub in El Cerrito was one of the most notorious gambling and vice locations in Northern California? According to reporter Chris Treadway, who is writing a book about the lawless past of El Cerrito, the Wagon Wheel was considered “the most notorious of the establishments in No Man’s Land and an ongoing headache to law enforcement.” The "Wagon Wheel" nightclub is long gone, and for more than 50 years, the building on Panhandle Boulevard (now known as Carlson Boulevard) has been home to the Eagles Club fraternal organization. But why not travel back in time on this historic spot?! Hot Rod Jukebox will team up with the Eagles once again to bring you a night of 1950's rock 'n roll and rockabilly for vintage swing dancing. Starting at 7:00 p.m. Liezel Martin will teach a dance lesson, followed by Hot Rod Jukebox bringing you classic hits from from 8:00 to 11:00 p.m. Come early to get a good spot! Ages 18 and up, open to the community. Tickets $12 at the door. Food and drinks available for purchase; full bar.
