Sound, Song and Symbol with Jeremiah and Jewlia

August 21, 2017
7:30 pm
Oshman Family JCC

Jeremiah Lockwood (leader of The Sway Machinery and High Holiday Music Director of the Brooklyn-based community Because Jewish) joins with Jewlia Eisenberg (leader of the band Charming Hostess and cantorial soloist for Congregation Chochmat HaLev, Berkeley, CA) to present a workshop that combines communal music making, text study and conversation. The workshop is rigorous in its engagement with historic Jewish sounds and classic texts and positive in an affirmation of the value and inherent beauty of all voices. Participants in the workshop will develop a repertoire of pieces from the High Holidays liturgy. The musical and liturgical skills participants develop can be put into practice directly in Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur services, and can be applied to any spiritual or creative practice. Room E-104 $12 General Public | $10 Members and J-Pass holders Scholarship support is available For more informatio, please visit
