Paul Dresher’s “SOUND MAZE,” a hands-on interactive exhibit featuring wildly inventive oversized musical instruments creating a cacophony of sound – including a pendulum 17 feet high, is attracting crowds of families eager to make some glorious noise! Returning two and three times and bringing their friends and family members, this kid-pleasing exhibit has also drawn professional and would-be musicians, attendees at local jazz and rock festivals, and fans of Dresher’s acclaimed work as a composer and musician. Many plan to return on June 24, July 1 or July 29 for an in-person tour with Paul Dresher, or to meet him at the Museum’s Member Appreciation Party on July 28. June 23 through August 11: Sound Maze by Paul Dresher. Listen, play, and discover sound anew as you improvise with a dozen newly invented musical instruments in an interactive installation created by renowned composer and inventor Paul Dresher in collaboration with Daniel Schmidt. Designed for all ages, all levels of musical experience, and all types of minds, this hands-on installation lets you experiment with extraordinary inventions to discover new ways of creating sound and music. July 1 and July 29 from 11 to 4: Paul Dresher will lead tours of the Sound Maze, included with Museum Admission.
