SF Zoo II Presents the 2017 Fur Ball “Rock and Roar”

September 15, 2017
11:00 pm

An annual elegant event with exotic animal encounters, gourmet food and lively entertainment is throwing it back to the 1960s! Fur Ball 2017 “Rock and Roar” celebrates the 50th Anniversary of the Summer of Love on Friday, September 15 at San Francisco Zoo & Gardens. The spirited affair, organized by Zoo II, will unite about 400 young professionals in the spirit of supporting SF Zoo animals and the conservation of wildlife. This year’s event is inspired by the Summer of Love, a defining moment of the 1960s when as many as 100,000 young people from around the world descended on the Bay Area, creating a phenomenon of cultural, political and social change that helped shape San Francisco into the city it is today. This wild night will feature groovy cocktails, select wines from local vineyards, exquisite cuisine and live music by Notorious. There will be dancing, a silent auction, carousel rides and amazing animals. The VIP reception begins at 6:30 in the Bernard Osher Giraffe Lodge where guests can feed giraffes and interact with several different education animals. The main event begins at 7:30 pm at the historic Dentzel Carousel with rides, popcorn and sweet treats like ice cream from Frozen Kuhsterd and cupcakes from Mission Minis. The final stop is the Bernard Osher Great Hall of the Lurie Education Center with wood-fired pizza from Del Popolo Pizzeria, delicious hors d’oeuvres, and live music by famed 80’s-and-more band Notorious until 11:30 pm. Transportation home from Fur Ball is available through Chariot, with drop-off locations throughout San Francisco.
