Permaculture Design Course
This course meets for 5 weeks: Mondays, February 12 - March 5, 5:30 - 8:30pm This course offers an introduction to the principles and practices of permaculture. Beginning with history, design philosophy, and permaculture ethics, topics covered will include designing natural systems and working with natural patterns, understanding climate factors, working with trees and aquaculture. Additionally, instructors will focus on practical skills such as building soil fertility, earth works and resources. This course is designed both for students getting started in permaculture or those with projects underway. (co-enrolled with Horticulture Certificate Program) Instructors Mat Lamb and Jay Allard co-own Berkshire Earth Regenerators, a permaculture design company. Matt Lamb has a Permaculture Design Certificate from Tagari Farm, studied Environmental Design, Integrated Pest Management, and Plant Pathology from UMass. Jay Allard has a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Three Rivers Technical College.
