Songs About Something: Old, New, Borrowed & Blue Tunes in the Round Hosted by Paige Clem December Guests: Madeline Tasquin | Gio Benedetti (The Brothers Comatose | Ryan McCaffrey (Go By Ocean) "...a vibe and setting that's more akin to an indoor campfire circle than a concert stage, the affable Paige [keeps] the proceedings aligned with the theme of the night...a great formula for a gratifying, lo-fi evening." - JAMBASE TICKETS:$8/$10(door) Every first Thursday of the month at Ivy Room, Bay Area songwriter Paige Clem hosts this unique spin on "songwriters in the round" where talented local and touring songwriters come together to share a "NEW" original song, an "OLD" original song, a "BORROWED" cover song and a "BLUES" song. Artists often collaborate on each others songs and have a grand time swapping songs and sharing stories from the stage. Jordan Feinstein serve's as the House "One-Man Orchestra Pit". Paige Clem Americana singer-songwriter, Paige Clem's arrestingly direct lyrics and velvety, unaffected vocals exude that most elusive of musical qualities -- Soul. With a natural gift for connecting with an audience, her roots-infused music is melodic and warm, yet packs a punch with tales of loss and love. She has shared the stage with members of Dead and Co., Further, Railroad Earth, Leftover Salmon, ALO, Fruition, Anders Osborne, RatDog,and more and has performed with Melissa Ethridge, moe., Joe Craven, Steve Poltz and many more. She has served multiple stints as songwriter-in-residence at The Bazaar Cafe and has appeared at High Sierra Music Festival, DelFest, Hangtown Halloween Ball, Cuko Rakko Music Festival, and ULUV Music Day. She will be featured in the upcoming documentary, The Creative High, and is currently recording her debut solo album slated to be released in early 2018. Madeline Tasquin Nimbly walking the edge between pop and prog, jazz and rock, soul and balkan... the thread that weaves the musical realms of Madeline Tasquin into one is the performer's natural and giving connection to her audiences. Combined with her musicianship and adventurous songwriting, Madeline is equal parts entertainer and artist. An itinerant rolling stone, she's rolling up to her BC Canada stomping grounds a few short days after this "farewell (again) party," and will be joined by her badass band of Secret Agents for the occasion. Her next local performance won't come until the fall, with the official EP release tour for Agua es Vida, recorded this past winter in Montreal. Gio Benedetti Gio Benedetti is a Petaluma-based bass player, instructor and songwriter, well known as bass player for The Brothers Comatose, a five-piece string band that's anything but a traditional acoustic outfit with their fierce musicianship and rowdy live shows reminiscent of stadium rock concerts. Gio also performs and records kid-friendly tunes with his wife, Jen, in the duo Benedettiville. Ryan McCaffrey I've always been enchanted by music. I'm mesmerized by the miracle of sound waves resonating naturally through the atmosphere and mysteriously working in harmony to draw out emotions in us all. My latest work came together under a spell, in a truly majestic landscape on the coast of Marin. I set out with some of my best friends to focus and explore my current cultivation of songs with a new philosophy and an unfamiliar methodology. I chose the Panoramic House in Stinson Beach as the vessel to write and record the new Go By Ocean album "Sun Machine." I brought most of the songs in fresh so everyone worked on them with a first instinct kind of prospective. For me, "Sun Machine" reveals a new found path in life. An evolution of living with light rather than letting darkness lead the way. Like many of my lyrics, the album reflects on harder times with hope for greater days ahead. "Ring Around The Sun" starts the record off with that exact sentiment and is an anthem proclaiming there's still time to look on down that road to a better life. Participating in the light as opposed to checking out into darkness. We had a ball making this album with an amazing collection of hearts that resulted in a record I am very proud of. My line up has changed over the years but our mission remains the same. To spread love through the art of music and hopefully give people the emotional responses we all share and find in the music we love the most. - Ryan McCaffrey
