Ohlone Wind Orchestra: International Influences

October 29, 2017
7:00 pm
Smith Center at Ohlone College

This concert features nostalgic, sentimental pieces from several countries. We’ll play Englishman Peter Graham’s Red Machine, an homage to the guards at Buckingham Palace, and a lively new arrangement of the famous Brazilian tune, Tico Tico. Australian Charles Mackerras’ Pineapple Poll features dances based on the music of Gilbert and Sullivan’s comic operettas. The concert will also include American composers Robert Russell Bennett (Symphonic Songs for Band), Samuel Barber (Commando March), and John Mackey (Sheltering Sky).
