Ms Smiley is a member of the San Francisco Symphony, Ms Lee is a member of the Lee Trio and Ms Luest is a member of the Contrasts Quartet. Ms. Luest will perform three colorful and atmospheric solo piano pieces written by her husband, Pulitzer Prize winner, Aaron Jay Kernis. Ms Lee and Ms Luest will follow with a delightful set of cello and piano pieces full of Georgian folklore by one of Georgia's foremost composers, Sulkhan Tsintsadze. The concert will end with the epic and passionate B major Piano Trio which has the best of both the youthful and wiser Johannes Brahms. The masterpiece was written in 1854 when Brahms was only twenty years old. He made significant alterations thirty-five years later, in which the youthful passionate romanticism is preserved, but yet has a more compact structure than the first version. It is the later version which you will hear today.
