St. Vincent’s School for Boys

ForWords Literacy Lab invites the public to the beautiful courtyard of the historic St. Vincent’s School for Boys* and their 10th anniversary celebration hosted by Brian Copeland. Join the award-winning actor, comedian, author, TV and radio host, for an afternoon of music by the popular La Familia Peña-Govea band and performances of students and graduates of this acclaimed literacy organization. The event concludes with an opportunity to fund a need. ForWords, a nonprofit organization based in San Rafael, is dedicated to developing literacy skills in underserved youth, particularly English language learners. It provides both in-school and community programs based on 10 core literacies, from public speaking to media production. Critical thinking and effective communications are vital skills for becoming contributing members of our democracy. Last year ForWords served 500 students. This year, the number has grown by 40%. Local educators are increasingly turning to ForWords for assistance. Space is limited. To purchase tickets, contact Ticket Coordinator Michelle Severy: michelle@forwords.org or 510-525-2548. *St. Vincent’s School for Boys is a division of Catholic Charities Catholic Youth Organization of the Archdiocese of San Francisco.
