San Francisco Opera Guild presents this delightful new interactive family opera December 8-9 at the African American Art and Culture Complex in San Francisco. Composed by Evan Mack and Joshua McGuire, and based upon the traditional Mexican story of how the pointsettia became an important holiday symbol, this heartwarming opera follows Lucinda on her quest to make a meaningful holiday offering.  When faced with her mother's illness, and time growing short, Lucinda journeys to learn that the real gift is from inside, and that the spirit of the season is in the warmth of one's heart.  Featuring Molly Mahoney, Leandra Ramm, Joel Knopf, Mark Hernandez, Paul Dab, and the San Francisco Opera Guild Opera Scouts, and directed by Caroline Altman, this charming transformative opera runs about 45 minutes and is suitable for children aged 5-10.
