La Cocina Conference 2018
The La Cocina Conference is an annual gathering of chefs, placemakers, and policy activists for conversations about the role of food in inclusivity, equity, and economic justice. These conversations will happen by eating through neighborhoods, listening to stories from kitchens around the world, panels and conversations designed to inspire action within our communities and further abroad. A limited run of early-bird tickets are on sale now for $325. Program: Day 1: Keynote/Welcome April 16, 6pm - 9pm Cocktails & Food Day 2: Conference Program April 17, 10am - 6pm Panels, presentations and workshops exploring a new future for the food industry by listening to the voices of labor, immersing ourselves in Bay Area foodways, understanding placemaking and how race and gender inform questions of access, ownership and leadership. Be inspired and fill up on thought-provoking meals from celebrated chefs. Day 3: Walking Tours, Expo and Team Challenge April 18th, 10am - 6pm Explore the city on foot and learn about local economies led by people of color, innovative labor models, how immigration shapes place, how nonprofit developers are leading innovation and more.
