Kids Design Workshop

June 24, 2017
10:30 am
Joe DiMaggio Playground

Only one in four adolescents get the recommended 60 minutes of physical activity or active play per day – and the numbers for younger kids are only a slim improvement. Kids are frequently spending six to eight hours a day in front of screens, which often means that playing outside falls off to the wayside. We need innovative solutions that promote more creative and physical play – that’s where the Kids Design Workshop comes in! Join us for a workshop showcasing our Extraordinary Playscapes exhibition. The day will include plenty of outdoor play, and a group building exercise in the Joe DiMaggio Playground Clubhouse. In this two-hour hands-on workshop, families will be introduced to architecture and design through building exercises where children will be allowed to let their imaginations run wild, and create their own custom playscapes! This event is proudly presented in partnership with San Francisco Recreation & Parks Department, SF Parks Alliance, San Francisco Public Library, Playworld, NEA Artworks, Sappi, and Whole Foods. Workshop begins at 10:30am. Tickets are $10 per child, adults with children are free. Snacks and beverages will be provided.
