Great Fundraiser by the Polish Community
26 years ago a rock-and-roll enthusiast in Poland created the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity: a one day event in January where local bands play for free and during the concerts funds are raised for life saving hospital medical equipment. The Orchestra has become the most successful fundraiser in Poland; in recent years it has spread outside of Poland to all places where Polish people live. In 2017 it has been nominated to Peace Nobel Prize. This Sunday it will be playing for first time on the West Coast of the US - hosted by the Polish Club of San Francisco and sponsored by San Francisco-Krakow Sister Cities Association.
Come and enjoy live music: from rock to pop, folk, musical theatre and even opera. The lineup features David Dobrzynski, a 13 year old rock guitarist, Aria Diva Anna Samborska, street folk band Kuzyni and Magda Baldych, star of Voice of Poland. Dancers include: Slavic Strutter Duo and kids' folk groups Sokoly and Orliki.
Face painting for kids, CPR presentations and more.
Sale of food and drinks as well as proceeds of the live auction will go towards equipment in neonatal hospital wards in Poland. So do come, enjoy the show, grab some food and you'll be saving babies!
