Tickets: $15 General, $10 Members, Students Buy Tickets Online Tickets also available at the door Siroko Duo partners with the Guerrilla Composers Guild for three world premieres by Nick Benavides, Emily Shisko, and Michael Kropf that combine music, technology, and culture to present music of our time. Reception with the composers and musicians will follow the performance. About the artists: Siroko Duo (pronounced sah-rock-o) is comprised of San Francisco flutists Victoria Hauk and Jessie Nucho. Sharing a passion for commissioning and performing new works, Victoria and Jessie formed the duo in 2015 to record duets by Kyle Randall and Lucas Floyd and continue to actively perform works by (mostly) living composers. Siroko Duo is excited to be collaborating with the Helia Music Collective in Spring 2017, celebrating music by women composers. Both Jessie and Victoria studied with Tim Day at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. About GCG: The Guerrilla Composers Guild hosts listening parties, music forums, and performances where musicians and Guerrilla Groupies get together to make good stuff happen. Their true love is their ongoing commissioning project where they work directly with performers to curate a concert of new works by young Bay Area composers. A note from curator Dan Becker: On one hand I am simply excited and honored to have the opportunity to showcase local Artists -- from all generations -- whose work moves and inspires me. On the other hand, much of my work for years has leaned towards a desire to shine a light on the unique and rich New Music Community that exists here in SF (though sometimes in latent form). Doing this always depends on the context that we find ourselves in. NOW more than ever one crucial question is how can we be musicians, composers, "musical citizens", and now CITIZENS in the broader sense, all at the same time? And should we?
