I think of all music as existing in the substance of the air itself. It is the composer's task to order and make sense of sound, in time and space, to communicate something about being alive through music." - Libby Larsen Libby Larsen is one of America's most performed living composers. She has created a catalogue of over 500 works spanning virtually every genre, from intimate vocal and chamber music to massive orchestral works and over twelve operas. Grammy Award winning and widely recorded, she has established a permanent place for her works in the concert repertory. Program: "Black Birds, Red Hills" for viola, clarinet, and piano inspired by Georgia O'Keeffe paintings "Songs from Letters" for soprano and piano inspired by letters of Calamity Jane Movements from "Viola Sonata," "4 1/2: A Piano Suite", and "Dancing Solo" for clarinet "Happy Birthday, Libby!" by Emma Logan Performers: Paul Dab, piano Anne Hepburn Smith, soprano Justine Preston, viola James Pytko, clarinet As always, your ticket includes wine, snacks, and party hat!
