Eugene Villanueva & Peter Grünberg

March 24, 2019
5:00 pm
Noe Valley Ministry, 1021 Sanchez St., SF, CA 94114

LIEDER ALIVE! is honoured to present baritone Eugene Villanueva and pianist Peter Grünberg, performing a selection of gorgeous Schubert and Tosti. This duo moved and delighted audiences in our 2017/18 season, and we are so happy to have them return to the LIEDER ALIVE! stage this March. Each half of the programme opens with well-loved Lieder and piano solos by Schubert. Villanueva, the first American ever to have been awarded the coveted Tosti song prize from the Instituto Nazionale Tostiano, will also perform Tosti's Quatro canzoni d'Amaranta ("Four Songs of Amaranta"), an expressive Italian song cycle of love-madness. The concert concludes with three soaring favorites by Richard Strauss.
