Celebrating Black History Month and Dexter Gordon's Birthday with a New Biography of the Jazz Great

Mills College will host a presentation by Maxine Gordon of her new book about her husband, Dexter Gordon, the late renowned jazz saxophonist. The event, featuring interviews with Ms. Gordon by prominent local jazz figures, will take place on Mills campus in Lisser Hall on February 27, which would have been Dexter Gordon's 96th birthday. A VIP reception will be held at the home of Beth Hillman, President of Mills College. This event will celebrate Black History Month – February – and the life and music of Dexter Gordon. Co-sponsors are the Alumnae Association of Mills College and the International Women's Forum of Northern California. The co-sponsors will donate proceeds from ticket sales for the benefit of Mills College.
