Building Culture: Tom Krens, William Weld, and Max Hollein
We are pleased to welcome Thomas Krens, director emeritus of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation, and William Weld, former governor of Massachusetts, in conversation with Max Hollein, director and CEO of the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco. ABOUT THE EVENT: Building Culture will feature a discussion of the role that arts institutions play in shaping the life of cities. Krens will speak on his 20-year tenure at the Guggenheim and its global expansion, as well as his experience in developing a new cultural district in Abu Dhabi called Saadiyat Island. Krens will also discuss his ongoing work in western Massachusetts, the recently opened Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art, and his newest project, the Extreme Model Railroad and Contemporary Architecture Museum. Following Krens's presentation, Hollein will lead a discussion with Krens and Weld about developing new paradigms for urban and cultural development, changing how we view art and architecture in the process.
