Barry Lloyd Sings The Landesman/Lloyd Songbook
San Francisco's Crown Prince of Cabaret returns to Society Cabaret with an evening of original songs composed by Mr. Lloyd with lyrics by Lyricist/poet/performer Fran Landesman (1927-2011). Described by New York Times critic Stephen Holden as "A cranky, jazz-steeped beat generation Dorothy Parker", Ms. Landesman wrote the lyrics to over a thousand songs in her lifetime working with such composers as Tommy Wolf, Steve Allen, Dudley Moore, Alec Wilder, Bob Dorough and many others. Mr. Lloyd has set a selection of his favorite Landesman poems/lyrics to music and sings them from the piano in an evening of song that runs the gamut from salacious to silly - from sensual to serene.
