ACOUSTIC YOUTH - Youth Music Festival Un-plugged Concert

April 22, 2017
2:00 pm
Firehouse Arts Center

The newly expanded Youth Music Festival 2017 presents the second concert in its three-week run at the Firehouse Arts Center Theatre in Pleasanton. High School Music Collaborative goes "unplugged" to perform originals and covers in their acoustic show. Young professional singer-songwriting group The Hunts will join members of The Collaborative at this matinee show for a set. The fresh new High School Music Collaborative at the City of Pleasanton's Firehouse venue has been writing, rehearsing, recording, and working hard since December with the YMF concerts, master-classes, and collaborations in view. Twice a week, HSMC members have been rehearsing a series of covers, and writing original tunes together says founder and director Mark Duncanson. He notes that a special highlight of this inaugural season is a collaboration the musicians are doing with City of Pleasanton Teen Poet Laureate Kyle Mular, currently a senior at Foothill High School, to turn one of his poems into a song. RECORDING SESSION: "One of our larger endeavors is a professional recording session," says Duncanson. "Two sessions are scheduled on April 1 and 2 at the Hyde Street Studios in San Francisco with well-known Bay Area singer-songwriter Chris Von Sneidern, who is acting as sound engineer and mentor to the young musicians." MASTERCLASS - Friday, April 21, 5:00-7:00 p.m. The Hunts will be offering an interactive music masterclass at the Firehouse Arts Center for high school musicians. Only five spots will be open to the public. Students must have advanced vocal skills and musical ability on their respective instruments; there is a heavy focus on acoustic string instruments and voice work.\r\n\r\nPresented by City of Pleasanton Firehouse Arts Center
