Acoustic Alchemy

June 23, 2017
7:00 pm

Acoustic Alchemy, a three-time Grammy nominee, has changed dramatically through its thirty-five year history in a very chameleon-like manner. From folk to straight-ahead jazz to funky fusion, Caribbean reggae romps, and soulful pop, each of their recordings has reflected a change of musical direction and focus on a different genre. The one thing that hasn't changed is the band's absolute dedication to making great music. Led by the wonderful fretboard wizardry of Greg Carmichael and Miles Gilderdale, Acoustic Alchemy's eclecticism appeals to a broad spectrum of music lovers. The group's frontline acoustic guitar concept, a duo mix of nylon and steel string guitars, continues to excite and enthrall audiences while crossing into, and exploring, a variety of sonic territory. They are energetically backed by the exceptional rhythm section support of Fred White, on keyboards, and brothers Gary Grainger and Greg Grainger, on bass and drums, respectively, who provide the group's propulsive drive. Live in London is the title of Acoustic Alchemy's latest recording. 9pm: ½ Price Night for Students, tickets at the door only. Doors and dinner beginning at 6:00 pm.
