A Taste of Mussar-Reflecting on Living with Meaning

September 18, 2017

Oshman Family JCC

Preparation for the High Holy Days is about self-reflection: how we interact with others, ourselves and our Creator. The centuries-old Mussar movement (which literally means discipline, instruction or moral conduct) provides us with a toolbox for moral and ethical character development, as well as a spiritual practice in a contemporary Jewish context. While a Mussar practice is meant to be implemented daily, an awareness of how we show up in the world and setting an intention of how we want to improve ourselves, is especially important during this period leading up to the holidays. Join us for a taste of what Mussar is all about and be a part of a growing transformational contemporary practice of character development appropriate for all denominations. A 7-session Mussar course will begin on Monday, September 25. The Facilitator: Barbara Gottesman Barbara is an executive and leadership coach, former attorney and published author. She received a B.A. from the University of Toronto in International Relations, and a law degree from the University of Ottawa. She received her coaching training and certification from the world-acclaimed and internationally accredited Coaches Training Institute. Barbara is a student of The Mussar Institute Facilitator Training Program for Mussar group leaders.
