2019 San Francisco Arts Education Resource Fair

January 30, 2019
4:00 pm
Asian Art Museum

The San Francisco Arts Education Resource Fair is the most comprehensive gathering of arts educators in the Bay Area. Dozens of organizations will be exhibiting at tables to talk about their programs. An arts coordinator from every SFUSD school will be attending, as well as hundreds of parents and educators from all around the Bay Area. The event will begin with Kanyon “CoyoteWoman” Sayers-Roods, a Mutsun-Ohlone Culture Bearer, edutainer, and accomplished artist who will offer Land acknowledgments and educational resources. Then the Alphabet Rockers will take the mic and get us all dancing to music from their GRAMMYnominated album, “Rise Shine #Woke.” Watch this video to learn the moves so you can dance along to their hit song, “Shine”. Of course, the real reason people are attending will be to talk with representatives from dozens of arts education organizations to find resources for their kids. Organizations who have signed up to exhibit represent a wide range of sizes and disciplines, from Green Art Workshop to the American Conservatory Theater, from SFJAZZ to the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco. When you arrive, be sure to pick up an arts education bingo card. Talk with arts educators to check off boxes. When you complete a row, you can submit your card to be entered to win raffle prizes (including museum passes, show tickets, and t-shirts). You can also use this event as an opportunity to visit the Asian Art Museum’s galleries for free. This is a CREATE CA event. Every young person in California has the right to a dynamic, creative education. “We’ve seen power and hope come to communities through the arts, especially where systemic racism and elitism have prevented opportunity and progress. We believe that many of these issues that face us today—no matter where we live—can be addressed when we work together to reimagine and reinforce a quality education for our students.“ The Arts Education Alliance of the Bay Area and our partners are joining the statewide movement to demand equity in education resources for all children in the state. We agree that creativity is not optional as we prepare our students for the future.
